Support & Funding for real growth
Building a desert-based economy means educating from a Namibian perspective that addresses our realities, potential and environment. At the Desert Academy Maltahöhe, we are committed to nurturing a generation of graduates who:
-
- cultivate food security and green lively-hoods through modern and importantly organic horticultural methods.
- deliver world-class hospitality rooted in Namibian culture and conservation, and
- maintain vital community infrastructure with technical precision and expertise.

Our partners, sponsors and initiatives, such as the Wolwedans Foundation Education Assistance Fund – have afforded us the ability to offer bursaries, subsidise fees and allocate donated on site hostel accommodation, uniforms, meals and transport, to eliminate as many, if not all of the barriers that confront quality education. This too remains our approach to healthy lifestyles, where the lack of finances shouldn’t impede the opportunity to access. To help us help as many young Namibians as possible we have relationships with like minded organisations.
Join the Movement – Put Shoulder to the wheel
Whether you’re a young Namibian seeking opportunity, a partner looking to collaborate, or a supporter who believes in education with impact — your journey begins here. The Foundation established the Wolwedans Foundation Education Assistance Fund in 2023, where those who choose to put shoulder to the wheel have an avenue to see their financial input directly affect and enable our current and exisiting trainees. We utilise sponsorships, donor funds and in-kind value adds (like materials for building, equipment donations or private bursaries) to reach more young people and create hope, where hopelessness, may present itself as a barrier.
Desert Academy Maltahöhe is more than a place of learning. It’s a place of becoming — where Namibia’s youth learn to lead with heart, skill, and purpose.
Our partners are:
The NTA: National Training Authority of Namibia, who continue to hold the Foundations vocational training endeavours to the highest standards since 2010 with the advent of the Wolwedans Desert Academy and the Namibian Institute of Cullinary Education, then based in Windhoek. The national organisation remains our most prolific partner since 2010.
-
- DEG: This project is co-financed by DEG Impulse from public funds of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
- NamibRand Safaris and its Wolwedans Foundation: Established as a non profit avenue for the Wolwedans Collection, the Foundation receives funding and support form the Collection through the acquisition of conservation levies from its guests, which is used for distributing and project managing resources for ‘do-good’ projects.
- Rural Revive Initiative: The Rural Revive Initiative is a registered Section 21 Company active in maintaining the Desert Academy Maltahöhe’s gardens and classrooms.
