The Living Classroom – Our Training Model

All our courses follow the national NTA qualifications, so they’re recognised across Namibia. It does not stop there. We also teach practical life skills and sustainable ways of working and living, so by the time you graduate, you are ready to secure employment or start a small enterprise of your own. Level 1 & 2 are taught face-to-face in Maltahöhe. Our hands-on approach encourages learning by doing. Once Level 2 has been successfully completed, you may be selected to progress further to Level 3, in form of an apprenticeship, meaning you will learn while working at a real business. Theory classes will be offered in blocks during low season at Maltahöhe. To join Level 3, you must obtain employment with a registered employer who agrees to train you. Desert Academy will facilitate this process.

Full-Time Tuition

At Maltahöhe Desert Academy, we offer a full-time tuition pathway for learners for a more structured, classroom-based learning experience. Full-time students receive focused theoretical and practical instruction on campus, guided by experienced trainers in a supportive learning environment. This approach allows learners to build a strong foundation in their chosen trade before entering the workplace.

Full-time tuition provides dedicated time for learning, practice, and skills development without the immediate pressure of employment. Students benefit from continuous academic guidance, well-paced training, and the opportunity to grow their abilities before moving into apprenticeships, internships, or employment. It is an ideal option for those who want to develop confidence, technical competence, and readiness for the world of work through concentrated study and hands-on learning at the Academy.

Apprenticeship

At Maltahöhe  Desert Academy we choose the apprenticeship model because it is one of the most effective ways to build real skills and real careers. Apprentices learn by working in a company, gaining hands-on experience while being guided by qualified artisans and supervisors. This practical learning is supported by classroom theory at an accredited training institution, ensuring trainees fully understand their trade.

Instead of studying first and only then searching for a job, apprentices start working and earning from day one. This approach helps trainees gain valuable skills, build confidence, and enter the workplace faster—while avoiding the high cost of traditional training programmes.
