Tuition fees at Desert Academy Maltahöhe are determined for each new intake in accordance with the funding available. Thanks to strong donor support, including match-funding from DEG Impulse (public funds of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development), the intake period 2026 – 2028 is fully funded. This means no tuition fees will be charged, and all affiliated costs such as training materials, manuals, uniforms, assessment costs and lunch on school days, are covered.
However it must be noted that if funding is insufficient in future, a tuition fee contribution from trainees may be implemented. Any applicable tuition fees will always be clearly communicated in new calls for applications.
Additional costs include:
- Registration fee: N$ 300.00 which is compulsory after acceptance into a course. No assistance is available for this expense.
- Hostel accommodation: N$ 2500.00 per month for trainees who wish to reside in the Desert Academy’s hostel.
Living cost assistance: Trainees in need may apply for support through the Wolwedans Training Assistance Fund. Applications are considered case-by-case, and proof of financial need (e.g. income of parents/guardians) must be provided.
This tuition model applies to entry-level (Level 2) programmes. Progression to Level 3 takes place in apprenticeship mode under the NTA Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme. In this concept, apprentices are employed by NTA-registered employers and receive a salary during their training, combining workplace experience with structured learning.
